Dear Parents,
This week, we’ll learn about “God’s Covenant with Abraham
(Genesis 12; 15; 17). God promised Abram (later renamed Abraham) that He would bless him, make him the father of a great nation, and that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars. Although Abram and Sarai had no children, Abram believed God’s promises. To confirm His word, God made a covenant with Abram and changed his name to Abraham, meaning “father of many.” God’s promise was ultimately fulfilled through Jesus, a descendant of Abraham, who came to bless the whole world.
I hope this message will inspire your child to grow in the love and light of Jesus. To help reinforce the lesson at home, please discuss the following points with your child:
- God’s Promise to Abram: Explain how God promised to bless Abram and give him countless descendants, even when he had no children.
- The Covenant: Discuss how God made a special promise to Abram, showing that He would always keep His word.
- Jesus Fulfills the Promise: Talk about how Jesus, a descendant of Abraham, came to bless all people and make us part of God’s family.
Pray with your child, thanking God for His promises and for making us part of His family through Jesus.
Grace and blessings in Christ,
Danny Sungshin Park
