Dear Parents,
This week, we have the opportunity to explore the teachings of “The Kingdom Divided” (1 Kings 11-13).
King Solomon turned away from God, and because of his unfaithfulness, God divided the kingdom. His son Rehoboam became king, but he ignored wise advice and responded harshly to the people. This caused Israel to split into two nations—Judah and Israel. Unlike Rehoboam, Jesus is the perfect King who leads with wisdom and love, bringing unity to all who trust in Him.
This message will inspire your child to grow in the love and light of Jesus. Reinforce the lesson at home by discussing the following points with your child:
- Solomon’s sin led to consequences: Talk about how turning from God always brings sadness and brokenness.
- Rehoboam rejected wise advice: Help your child see the value of listening to godly wisdom.
- Jesus is the true King who unites us: Remind your child that Jesus brings peace and unity to all who follow Him.
You might consider praying with your child,
“Jesus, help us to listen to Your wisdom and follow You with humble hearts.”
