Dear Parents,
This week, we have the opportunity to explore the teachings of “Solomon Built the Temple” (1 Kings 6-8).
Four years into his reign, King Solomon began building a grand and beautiful temple for the Lord. He used the finest materials—gold, bronze, and stone—and filled the temple with intricate decorations and sacred objects. When the ark of the covenant was placed inside, the glory of the Lord filled the temple. Solomon praised God for keeping His promises and prayed that God would always hear His people when they prayed. Though Solomon built the temple, he knew it could not contain God. This story points us to Jesus, who came to dwell with us as the true presence of God.
This message will inspire your child to grow in the love and light of Jesus. Reinforce the lesson at home by discussing the following points with your child:
- God Keeps His Promises: Solomon praised God for fulfilling His promise to David. How has God kept His promises in your life?
- God Deserves Our Best: Solomon gave his best to build the temple. How can we give our best to God each day?
- Jesus Is God With Us: God’s glory filled the temple, but Jesus is the true temple. How does Jesus show us God’s presence and love?
You might consider praying with your child, thanking God for keeping His promises and for sending Jesus to dwell with us and make us His forever.
Grace and blessings in Christ.
