Dear Parents,
This week, we have the opportunity to explore the teachings of “Solomon Became King” (1 Kings 2-3).
After David’s death, Solomon became king. One night, God appeared to Solomon in a dream and told him to ask for anything he wanted. Solomon didn’t ask for riches or power—he asked for wisdom to lead God’s people well. God was pleased and gave Solomon both wisdom and many blessings. This story reminds us that true wisdom comes from God, and when we follow Jesus, who is wisdom, we grow in understanding and life.
This message will inspire your child to grow in the love and light of Jesus. Reinforce the lesson at home by discussing the following points with your child:
- Wisdom Comes from God: Solomon asked God for wisdom to lead well. How can we ask God for wisdom in our choices each day?
- God Blesses a Heart That Seeks Him: God was pleased with Solomon’s request. How can we seek God with a humble and faithful heart?
- Jesus Is Our Perfect Leader: Solomon was a wise king, but Jesus is the perfect King. How can we grow in wisdom by following Jesus?
You might consider praying with your child, thanking Jesus for showing us mercy and asking Him to help you be kind and forgiving like Him.
Grace and blessings in Christ.
