Dear Parents,
This week, we have the opportunity to explore the teachings of “David Defeated Goliath” (1 Samuel 17).
The Israelites were afraid of the Philistine giant Goliath, who mocked God and challenged them for forty days. Young David, sent to deliver food to his brothers, heard Goliath and trusted God for victory. With just a sling and a stone, David defeated Goliath—not with strength or armor, but through faith in God. This powerful story teaches us that no matter how big our problems seem, God is greater. Just like David saved Israel, Jesus saves us from sin and death through His victory on the cross.
This message will inspire your child to grow in the love and light of Jesus. Reinforce the lesson at home by discussing the following points with your child:
- Trusting God in Big Challenges: David wasn’t afraid of Goliath because he trusted God. What challenges can we face with God’s help?
- God Uses the Faithful, Not Just the Strong: David was young and small, but full of faith. How does God use us when we trust Him?
- Jesus Is Our Greatest Hero: David saved Israel, and Jesus saves us from sin. How can we thank Jesus for His love and victory?
You might consider praying with your child, thanking God for His power and asking Him to help you trust Him in every battle you face.
Grace and blessings in Christ.
