Dear Parents,
This week, we have the opportunity to explore the teachings of “Taking the Land” (Joshua 10-11).
As Joshua led Israel to take the Promised Land, five kings joined forces to attack, but God assured Joshua of victory. The Lord confused the enemy, sent hail to defeat them, and even made the sun stand still so Israel could win. Later, northern kings also tried to resist, but God gave Israel victory again. In the end, Israel received the land God had promised and found rest. This reminds us that Jesus has won the greatest victory over sin and death for us.
This message will inspire your child to grow in the love and light of Jesus. Reinforce the lesson at home by discussing the following points with your child:
- God Fights for His People: God gave Israel victory. How does God help us when we face challenges?
- Trusting God’s Promises: God promised to give Israel the land, and He kept His word. How can we trust God’s promises in our lives?
- Jesus’ Victory Over Sin: God defeated Israel’s enemies, just like Jesus defeated sin and death. How does Jesus’ victory give us hope?
You might consider praying with your child, thanking God for His power and asking Him to help you trust in His promises and in Jesus’ victory.
