Dear Parents,
This week, we have the opportunity to explore the teachings of “The Golden Calf” (Exodus 32; 34).
While Moses was on Mount Sinai, the Israelites grew impatient and worshiped a golden calf. God was angry at their disobedience, but Moses pleaded for mercy on their behalf. God showed compassion and instructed Moses to create new tablets with His commandments. This story reminds us of God’s justice and mercy, and how Jesus intercedes for us, offering salvation through His life, death, and resurrection.
This message will inspire your child to grow in the love and light of Jesus. Reinforce the lesson at home by discussing the following points with your child:
- God’s Mercy and Forgiveness: Talk about how God forgave the Israelites and how He forgives us through Jesus.
- The Dangers of Idolatry: Discuss why worshiping anything other than God leads to sin and separation from Him.
- Jesus as Our Intercessor: Explain how Jesus stands between us and God’s wrath, offering us forgiveness and salvation.
You might consider praying with your child, thanking God for His compassion and for Jesus’ intercession for our sins.
Grace and blessings in Christ.
