Dear Parents,
This week, we’ll learn about “Jacob Fled from Canaan”
(Genesis 28; 32). Jacob fled from Esau’s anger and began a long journey, during which God appeared to him in a dream, confirming His promise to bless Jacob’s family. After many years, Jacob returned home, but only after wrestling with God and receiving a new name, Israel. When Jacob met Esau, his brother forgave him, and God fulfilled His promise to bring Jacob back to Canaan. This story shows us that, just as God changed Jacob’s life, Jesus came to transform ours through forgiveness and love.
I hope this message will inspire your child to grow in the love and light of Jesus. To help reinforce the lesson at home, please discuss the following points with your child:
- God’s Promises to Jacob: Talk about Jacob’s dream and God’s promise to bless his family and people worldwide.
- Wrestling with God: Discuss how Jacob’s wrestling with God changed him and helped him become closer to God.
- New Name, New Life: Talk about how Jacob’s new name, Israel, represents how God changes our lives, too.
Pray with your child, thanking God for His promises and asking for hearts that trust in His guidance.
Grace and blessings in Christ,
Danny Sungshin Park
