Dear Parents,
Today, we’ll learn about “Jesus Was Anointed” (Matthew 26; Mark 14; John 12). It is easy for us to go to the store and buy oil. But during Jesus’ time on earth, most oil was expensive. It was a treasured possession. In our Bible story today, a woman poured her expensive oil on Jesus. Some thought this was a waste. We’ll learn that anything we give to Jesus, even if it’s very valuable, is never wasted.
Review the gospel and encourage your child to speak with you if they have questions. Remind your child that Jesus is worthy of our worship for all He is and all He has done. Jesus is our Priest who never sinned but still took the punishment we deserve for our sin. Explain that He came to save us from our sin! Jesus is worthy of all worship and praise. Then pray, thanking God that Jesus came to be our perfect Priest and save us from our sin.
